Troubleshoot installing Office
Incorrect instructions. If it didn’t, tell us more about your issue, including any error messages your received and where you were in the install process when you received it. Then run the installer. If you previously installed the bit version of Office on your PC, but decide you now want the bit version, you’ll have to uninstall bit and then reinstall the bit version of Office. Any more feedback?
unistall Office due to failure installing it – Microsoft Community
I’m trying to install MS Office onto my new Dell Latitude 8th Gen i7 Intel chip but it keeps failing and saying “setup failed rolling back changes”. The laptop is running Windows 10 version It had Office pre-installed but I uninstalled it. I tried the easy fix tool to uninstall it and nothing shows up in the control panel.
Any advice for what I can try? Dell is shipping computers with Office installed through the Microsoft Store. I have been noticing a handful of issues with this. Wish Microsoft and Dell would realize that installing Office through the Microsoft Store causes a lot of buggy stuff still. Check the setup logs for clues. This is an older article but I believe the log location is the same. When I run the setup. TMP files show up and disappear after it fails.
No setup log is left to review. I couldn’t get any of them to work either :. Is this the removal tool you tried already? I’m considering just doing a fresh OS install. I got this laptop with Windows 10 then just inserted our Win10 enterprise key to upgrade to that version, then I installed version via updates. Maybe a fresh OS install will sort it all out and get rid of all the bloatware as well.
This one worked for me too – thanks for you post. You’re welcome. I’m annoyed with almost everything that is installed through the Microsoft store. Microsoft will hopefully realize eventually that a big advantage Windows has over OSX is the ability for programs to integrate with Windows and with other programs. The one thing that Microsoft does very well consistently is make decisions that drive IT admins nuts.
I’m sure Dell is getting some sort incentive from Microsoft to have office installed this way. Decision from Dell that is also frustrating because the business line Optiplexes should be dialed in. Followed up the instructions provided by ustinerickson and I was able to install applications such as Microsoft Office After that, I restarted the laptop and I was able to install the software. Thank you! I uninstalled because the Outlook won’t save the password for a client’s computer. So I did a complete uninstall, but during the reinstall, I got the message it failed and rolled back!
So after reading your suggestion to remove the reg key it installed the first time! Unfortunately, I’m still experiencing the original issue of Outlook will not save the password. This topic has been locked by an administrator and is no longer open for commenting.
